How Many Treatments Will I Need?
After completing three treatment sessions with 30 days between each, you can achieve younger, smoother, and healthier-looking skin. Furthermore, your results will last up to six months. Who Is a Good Candidate for SkinPen Microneedling?
The best candidates for SkinPen treatments are adult patients in good health looking for a non-surgical treatment that will visibly improve skin texture and reverse aging.
Some patients may not qualify for this treatment for safety reasons, including those with active acne or a skin infection in the planned treatment area, patients with an allergy to stainless steel or a bleeding disorder, pregnant and nursing women, and those taking medications like Accutane. An initial consultation can confirm your treatment eligibility and ensure that SkinPen treatments are safe for you.
What To Expect From Your Treatment
Before we begin this treatment, we can apply a topical numbing cream to your skin to ensure you remain comfortable throughout the session. Then, we’ll activate the device and use it to create thousands of microchannels, or micro-injuries, across the surface of your skin.
Initiating a Healing Process
The body will then react as if it’s been injured and will initiate its healing response, which will inevitably result in increased collagen and elastin production and the production of new skin cells. These new skin cells will replace old and damaged ones to rejuvenate the skin. We use the device to target acne scars, facial wrinkles, and fine lines on the neck.
Once your treatment is over, you can resume your normal daily activities as long as you follow some aftercare instructions to help your skin heal. After your treatment, we’ll apply a cooling mask and provide you with a post-treatment kit that you can use at home to hydrate and nourish your skin as it heals.
Customizing Your Treatment
Not only do we offer standard SkinPen treatments, but we can also add PDRN, PRP, and chemical peels to your treatment to enhance the results. Doing so can target other skin concerns during the same treatment and maximize your collagen induction therapy results.
PRP
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma and is derived from each patient’s blood through a standard blood draw at the beginning of the treatment. We prepare the PRP into a topical solution by placing the blood sample in a centrifuge, a device that will spin the blood. The gravitational forces will isolate the platelets from the rest of the plasma.
Once we prepare the PRP into a topical form, we can apply it during microneedling to enhance collagen production, accelerate healing, and force growth factors and healing properties deep into the microchannels in the skin to promote the best results.
PDRN
Sports MedSpa offers SkinPen microneedling treatments with PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide), a powerful regenerative compound derived from salmon DNA. Like exosomes, PDRN supports skin repair and regeneration—but it works through a different biological pathway. PDRN promotes tissue healing by stimulating cellular renewal, reducing inflammation, and increasing collagen production at the source.
During the treatment, we apply a medical-grade PDRN solution to the skin to enhance microneedling results. This allows deeper penetration of the healing compound and accelerates recovery while improving skin tone, texture, and hydration. PDRN is especially effective for calming redness, refining pores, reducing fine lines, and revitalizing dull or damaged skin.
While both exosomes and PDRN are used to repair and regenerate skin, exosomes act as messengers between cells, whereas PDRN provides the building blocks that activate healing responses.
